About Kristin

Kristin Szczerbik Has What It Takes!

I was raised and have lived in Indiana my entire life and currently reside in northern Owen County, Jackson Township, with my husband and our three children. I graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a Double B.A. and from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. My commitment to serving the citizens of Indiana as shown through my public service at the federal, state, and local levels of government will continue in my work as a member of the County Council. I have worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Indiana Attorney General’s Office where I operated Indiana’s first statewide victim advocacy program at the appellate level. I also clerked for the Death Penalty Division of the State Public Defender's Office and for the Vigo County Prosecutor, in the Domestic Violence Court. I currently operate a succesful home-based business.
As a Sunday school teacher at St. Agnes parish for over a decade and active community volunteer I also understand the importance of providing positive leadership in our community.
I also serve as the Democratic Precinct Chairperson for Jackson Township. For the past decade I have been involved in the political process, both behind the scene by working at the Statehouse, and in the forefront as the 2004 Democrat nominee for State Senate in one of the state's toughest political districts. I have the foresight and accountability that it takes to ensure the stability of our county's finances. It is important to address what our county needs now and to also secure financial stability so that owen county residents can thrive for generations to come. This can only happen with the thoughtful, experienced, and bold approach that I help bring to the table for district 3 of the Owen County Council.
Thank you for electing me to serve our community, Kristin Szczerbik
